What are vape coils made from?
Great question Tom! The wire coil inside your vape coil can be made of any number of materials. Each of these vape differently and depending on the type of wire you might need specific features on your e-cig to use them. Many of the top brands like Smok, Geekvape, and Vaporesso use Kanthal. This is the most common wire type, but is actually a trade name. This is an alloy of three different metals and works really well as a vape coil. Unless specified on a coils specs, your vape coil will be made of Kanthal or Nichrome (which we will discuss later).

Acetyl Propionyl (pronounces Ah-see-tel Pro-pee-ih-nil) is typically used as a solvent for cellulose acetate, lacquers, paints, inks, and is also used as a starting agent for drugs, dyes, and pesticides. Most commonly, it is known as an artificial flavor, particularly within the vaping industry for e-liquids. It has a flavor and aroma profile that have been known to carry a particularly sweet, creamy, buttery, cheesy, and fruity flavor, with notes of caramel.
Currently there is some controversy surrounding the use of this substance in vapor products, though no concrete evidence has emerged to explicitly label it as harmful. There has been discussion of acetyl propionyl causing damage to the respiratory tract, and it has been known to harm the lungs in studies done on animals. For the time being, until further research emerges, we will carry e-liquid brands that contain acetyl propionyl, but we will identify them as such.
